David Hodgkinson
Creative Director
Prior to founding Samphire Films, I worked as a commissioning editor in the BBC’s documentary department, where I was responsible for some of the broadcaster’s most successful recent series, box-sets and single films, including the BAFTA-winning Ambulance, Murder Trial, Hunting the Catfish Crime Gang, Gaia: A Death on Dancing Ledge, High: Surviving a Dubai Drugs Bust, Body on the Beach, a forthcoming boxset series telling the story of an infamous missing persons case, and a number of other as-yet-unannounced box-sets.
Before the BBC, I worked for nearly a decade at one of the UK’s most successful production companies, Blast Films, where in my role as creative director I oversaw the company’s highest profile programming, including the BAFTA-winning Liverpool Narcos (Sky Documentaries), High: Confessions of an Ibiza Drug Mule (BBC and Netflix), Missing: Dead or Alive (Netflix), Grierson award-winning, 999: What’s Your Emergency? and Skint Britain (C4), RTS award-winning Forensics: The Real CSI, Generation Gifted, Reported Missing and Saving Lives at Sea (BBC).
